"Finding Jesus"
Scripture Sticker Activity

WHAT DO WE WANT TO HAVE HAPPEN:

Search for Jesus with all our heart this holiday season.

Preparation and Supplies Needed:

  1. There are three options for this activity.

One: (This would be a great Leadership Meeting to do with your primary workers)
You can do the activity two weeks prior to Christmas. It takes 12 days to finish. This activity is the introduction. (Instructions below) For this activity you will want to purchase a "Single pack" of stickers for each person. They will need all of the instructions that come in the packet.

Two: This activity would work best for the older boys and girls or they could do it at one of their activity days.
Do the activity the same except when you do the sticker part of the activity do all of the scriptures that came with your instructions. This activity only takes one day to finish. For this activity you can purchase the bulk pack if you have enough primary children and leaders (the minimum for bulk is 40 sheets). Or you can select from the other options that are available. Since you will be finishing this activity in one activity you only need one set of instructions.

    or Three:
Incorporate this into your Christmas Sharing Time.

Click here to order your "Finding Jesus" Scripture Stickers. Scroll down to view all of the different options of packets.

Both will work very well, it just depends on your personal circumstances which you prefer.

  2. Make the handout and give to each person on Sunday.
  3. Obtain one sheet of "Finding Jesus" Scripture Stickers for each person. You can order them from www.debanae.net
  4. Bring a gold crayon, pen or color pencil for each person to mark a couple of the scriptures.
  5. Have everyone bring their scriptures.
  6. Have the refreshments ready.

ACTIVITY:

  • Opening Prayer

  • Send them on a simple treasure hunt around the church. As the treasure, a picture of the baby Jesus.

  • When they get back have them all sit around a big table or on the floor.

  • Visit about the experience for just a minute.

  • Ask someone to read the scripture (Jeremiah 29:13)

  • Read this quote from Pres. Monson, (New Era, December 2003, 5)
"Wise men journeyed from the East to Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him....When they saw the star they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come....they fell down, and worshipped him...' Before we can successfully undertake a personal search for Jesus, we must first prepare time for Him in our lives and room for Him in our hearts. As we undertake our personal search for Jesus let us remember how He lived. He took time for others, served them and loved them. Fortunately, we can have the privilege to serve others. If we will but look, we too will see a bright star to guide us to our opportunity." (Matthew 2:2, 10-11)

  • Prepare to do this fun meaningful story from the Friend. "Twelve Days of Christmas". It would be fun to hand out the pieces of paper and let them read theirs as you do the story.

SCRIPTURE STICKER ACTIVITY:

  • Give everyone their packet of stickers and gold crayon, pen or pencil.

  • We are going to mark some scriptures that will help us get started on our search for Jesus. As you find the scripture reference in your scriptures, highlight it in gold first and then put the sticker on the top middle of the page or down the margin.

  • Mark these scriptures and the rest of the references are in your instructions that came with your stickers.

  1. Jeremiah 29:13
  2. Luke 2:11
  3. D&C 64:34
  4. 3 Nephi 11:10

CONCLUSION:

  • Conclude by sharing some thoughts from this wonderful article by Thomas S. Monson New Era. "The Spirit of Christmas". My favorite is the very last story. It would be a wonderful way to conclude.

  • Explain that you have begun your search for Jesus and tomorrow they are to do Day #1 in their instructions.

  • Sing "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem"

  • Closing Prayer

REFRESHMENTS:

  • Star shaped Sugar Cookies of Course (tee hee).
