Quarterly Activity Ideas
1. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Indoor: Cultural Hall or Class Rooms
- Table games: Checkers, puzzles, Monopoly, Candyland, etc.
- Floor games: Board games that have been enlarged with burcher paper using childrn or large item as the playing pieces.
- Skill games: Beanbags, balls, rings, driving course, (bigwheels, trikes, etc.)
- Circle games: Young children
- Physical fitness: Relay games, races, exercises, etc.
- Team games: Basketball, volleyball, table tennis, Frisbee.
2. Outdoor:
- Team games: Softball, soccer, Frisbee throw, tug of war, etc.
- Track/Field: Primary Olympics, high jump, broad jump, hurdles, shuttle relay.
- Kite making/flying
- Miniature golf: Make own course.
3. Theme Ideas:
- "Fun in the Sun": Swimsuits, water balloons, water slide, hose, spray bottle.
- "Hobo Party": Picnic (bag or can lunch) games, scavenger hunt.
- "Fitness Fair": Basic Food Groups with tasting tables, Physical Fitness -- a coach teaching exercises, correct posture, etc.
- "Summer Cruise Party": Tickets, paper hats, games (fish pond, sailor toss, etc.)
- "Under the Big Top": Ringmaster conducts, games (balloon balance), tight rope walker (string on floor), stunts, constumes.
4. Cultural Activites:
- Art, Music, Drama, and dance: "Spring-Sing": Talent Show with music and dance presented by age-groups.
- Songfest of National or international songs.
- Original Art Show by Primary children.
- Drama or puppet show using Pioneer Heritage Theme.
- Dance Festival -- international theme or local traditions.

- Heritage Fair - arts and crafts.
- Family Tradition Day
- Ancestor Birthday Party - honor an older member of a famly or ward.

- Cowboy Round-up or Indian Pow-wow
- Bastille Day (French)
- Girl's Boy's Day (Japanese Kite Holiday)
- Posadas (Mexican pinata party)
7. Holiday Traditions:
- Chirstmas Primary Open House
- Thanksgivign Pilgrim Party
- Pioneer Covered Wagon Day
- Unbirthday Party
- Leap Year Frog Party with physical activities
- May Day Maypole Dance.
8. Creative Activities:
- Arts and Craft Fair: Pioneer crafts: wood carving, clay or salt dough sculpture, fabric design, candle making, quilting, corn husk dolls, leather crat, rock painting.
- Science, Pet-Animal or Hobby Fair.
- Food Fair: Experiment with foods: breadmaking, butter churning, ice cream making, cake and cooking decorating, taffy pull, jam and jelly making, freezing and drying foods.
- Music Fair: Talent show, rhythm bands.
9. Creative Ideas:
- Create-an-art (using raw materials): paint, brushes, butcher paper, cardboard boxes, wood, hammer and nails; chalk, paper weaving, paper folding, yarn and string pictures; sand and snow sculpture, footprints in tempera, crayon designs.
- Creat-a-song (Using rhythms and melodies)
- Create-a-dance (circle, folk, creative)
- Create-a-musical (write, direct, costumes, props)
- Create-a-story, poem, or drama (using puppets or people)

- Create-a-game (charades with Primary fun songs, Monopoly adapted to local or Church historical places, scripture game)

- Weed, feed, harvest, preserve, report on.
11. Nature:
- Take walks, create cloud pictures, observe nature.
