Preparation and Supplies Needed:
- "Primary Scripture Stickers" from www.debanae.net.
For each Primary child and leader.
- Red Color Pencils. (enough for every child. I bought some and cut them in half. Keep them for next month)
- You might want to call the primary children and remind them to bring their scriptures.
- Be prepared with the rest of the sharing time.
Introduction:
When you drive into a city, what is the first thing that you see? (someone will probably catch on and say the temple, mine did) That's right. If that city has a Temple you will be able to see it. My favorite time to see the temple is at night. I love, to see the temple at night. It is so beautiful. Have any of you had this experiences. (Let them share for a minute)
What do you see on top of every temple? (The angel Moroni) Does anyone know why Moroni is on top of the Temple?
Discussion:
Moroni was the last prophet to write in the Book of Mormon. This is what Moroni says to us
Moroni 10:30 "And again I would exhort you that ye would come unto Christ and lay hold upon every good gift, and touch not the evil gift, nor the unclean thing".
I think he is telling us to be good.
Sister Menlove the General Primary President says this about Moroni..."...the statue of the angel Moroni placed on top of the temple could remind us to be good and to prepare to receive all the blessings of the temple. Remember, "The eyes of Moroni are Upon You, Be Good."
Scripture Activity:
This year we are learning about how Families can be Together Forever. Each month we focus on a different scripture. Please turn to our scripture for this month "D&C 124:40" and read it with me. Pass out red scripture marking pencils and have the children highlight it.
Now I would like to give each of you an "angel moroni scripture sticker". Put this by that scripture and whenever you see it you will remember that it is a temple scripture. As we memorize it this month, every time you come across this scripture you will remember it.
You may want to highlight all of the scriptures for the year in this sharing time. Since a lot of them are taken from The Family Proclamation, we have taken scriptures from throughout the CSMP Outline. They are all included with the instructions in your Scripture Sticker package.
Conclusion:
The scriptures are so important to us. It is important that you mark the scriptures that mean something to you. So that when you are reading your scriptures or just looking through them, your important scriptures that you have marked will jump out at you from the page. I am excited to be able to learn more about the temple from our scriptures this year.
