MINI-LESSON:
- Attention Getter:
- Have a set of "Dumbbell Weights" sitting on the table - it
would be great to have two different sets if you can find some.
Probably some 10 lb or 15 lb sets. Have your children come up and ask them to lift them.
Have them do some bicep
curls, have them do as many as they can and then have them stop. Ask
them if they did this every day if they think that they would get
stronger. Sure they would! Make the point that their muscles would
grow and get bigger and they would they would also become stronger.
Hold up the "For the
Strength of Youth" booklet. If we live these Standards that are in
here each day we will become stronger and the "heavy" things in life
will become easier to handle.
- Have the family members take turns reading the Title of the Standards.
For example... Agency and Accountability, Gratitude, Education........
- Read the message from the first Presidency on page 2.
SCRIPTURE STICKER ACTIVITY:
Tonight we are going to mark the scriptures that go along with
these Standards in your scriptures. So now every time you are
reading your scriptures and you come across one you will be reminded
of your "For the Strength of Youth Standards"
Tell them the scripture references one at a time. Have them all
look it up and ask someone to read it. Have them mark the scripture
and put the sticker in their scriptures.
CONCLUSION:
Read "Go Forward with Faith" found on page 40 of the "For the Strength of Youth" book.
CLOSING PRAYER
REFRESHMENTS:
You could make something really yummy for them with a "Strong" smell
if you want and have it baking while you have F.H.E. or just buy
something "strong" smelling. Be sure and emphasize the "strong"
smell.
