"The Family Proclamation"

I think every Young Women should have a proclamation hanging in her bedroom. The General Board went through Proclamation and highlighted it with the value colors to make it more meaningful to the youth. What a GREAT idea!!! I loved it.

You can purchase "The Family Proclamations" (there are two different sizes -- be sure and order the larger 11"x17" size) through the Church Distribution Center (you can have your Ward Clerk order them for you). They are very inexpensive. I think 5 cents each. Print this page off in color or print this page off in black and white so you have the directions of how to color it and where to add the words. Add the "Value Line Girls" sticker at the bottom. You can frame them, have the girls frame them or leave like they are. They can hang them on their wall that way.

Supplies needed for this activity:

  • 1 - 11"x17" "A Family Proclamation" for each Young Women (there are two different sizes -- be sure that you order the larger size or the stickers will not fit at the bottom)
  • 1 "Value Line Girls" sticker for each Young Women
  • enough color pencils for a group to color the proclamation
  • Gummy bears or Cinnamon bears
  • prepare to sing the song "Families can be Together Forever"

    Begin the evening by singing the Primary Song "Families can be Together Forever". (Page 188 primary childrens song book)

    Opening Prayer

    Tell this tearjerking story that will get them thinking.

    Visit with them about how family are so very important. Friends will come and go but family will always be there.

    Have a leader go around the room with a bag full of cinnamon bears or bag of gummy bears. Have her give each of the girls as many bears as are members in her family. Tell them that this is how many people that they are to be the kindest and most loving too on the whole earth. Visit about the love of a family for a minute.

    Give each young women a "Proclamation" have them color it, add the sticker and write the words in the column. This should be the main part of the evening, giving them plenty of time to finish their coloring.

    Conclusion: When all of the girls are finished have them all take turns reading the "Proclamation" a paragraph at a time.
