Presentation of Personal Progress Program

  • Have someone give a brief overview of the Personal Progress Program. Recognize those who have received their Young Womanhood recognition during the year.

  • Have one of the Youth Leaders give a talk on what the YW Theme means to her.

  • Then have eight young women give a short overview of each of the values. Have them read the scripture, tell the color and what that value means to her.

    Introduction of Theme

  • It would be a perfect time for the YW President to introduce the new theme and a brief overview of the activities for the year in her talk. Here are a few ideas.

You can find some great information in this talk "An Example of the Believers" by General YW Presidency. (January,2009 New Era, pg. 8-9)

  • This quote by President Monson from this same talk is wonderful counsel:

"Make every decision you contemplate pass this test: What does it do to me? What does it do for me? And let your code of conduct emphasize not, 'what will others think?' but rather, 'What will I think of myself.'

The General YW Presidency gave an invitation to all young women to:

    First, pray every day
Second, read the Book of Mormon every day for at least five minutes.
    Third, smile every day.

Give them some help and reminders to do this.

Start tonight with the "I Believe" Scripture Stickers and "I Believe in Reading the Book of Mormon Reading Chart".
    (Ordering info found above)
(Visit all of the "I Believe" idea links to get your own ideas of things to do with your young women.)

~Give the young women an "I Believe" scripture sticker to put on the scripture 1 Timonthy 4:12. Have them put it in the margin or at the top of the page and then highlight the scripture in yellow.

~Go throught the scripture step by step with them as found in the 2009 January, New Era on page 11. You could have the other leaders or some young women each take a section.

~Introduce your idea of reading the Book of Mormon every day with the "I Believe in Reading the Book of Mormon Wall and Reading Charts".

As a conclusion for your talk this is another quote from the YW General Presidency from the Jan. 2009 New Era:

"You have been taught by a prophet of God that the good people of the world will be drawn to you to the degree that you "are seen as distinct and different -- in happy ways." BEE HAPPY!!

You could give this "Every Day" YW card reminder. handout for your young women to put on their nightstand by their clock to see every day.

    Conclusion

    1. Closing Remarks by the Bishop or member of the Bishopric.
    2. Closing song - "I Believe in Christ" Hymn
    3. Closing Prayer
    4. Refreshments - Bee shaped sugar cookies and yellow Frape!!
