WHAT DO WE WANT TO HAVE HAPPEN:

Help the young women gain a stronger testimony of their Heavenly Father and the Savior and to feel their sisterhood in living the Gospel together.

Preparation and Supplies Needed:

1. "Y.W. Camp Scripture Sticker" for each Young Woman from www.debanae.net.
2. Yellow highlighter for each girl.
3. Have a place where you can see the sunrise picked out for your hike.
4. Have the young women bring thier scriptures with them.
5. Have a leader prepared to present the conlcusion presentation.
6. Prepare the Scripture Cards by writing each reference on an index card. Write an instruction or question that will help to guide the young woman's thoughts as she reads the scripture.
   
   For example: for D&C 88:63, you could write:
   
   "Think of times when you have felt close to your Heavenly Father and Jesus. "What are some things you can do to stay close to them and feel their love for you?"
   
   Scripture References:

   If you need more scriptures, look in the Topical Guide of the LDS edition of the King James Bible under subjects like, "Creation", "Nature", and "Earth". Or give some girls the same scriptures.
   
   
7. Prepare to sing the songs "I Feel My Savior's Love" (Camp Book, page 76) and I am a Child of God.
8. You may plan to have a sunrise breakfast of Orange Juice and muffins after your activity.

Activity

• Wake the girls just before sunrise and hike to a scenic spot. Not too far from camp so you can carry your supplies that you will need with you.
  
  
• Explain to the young women that they are going to have an experience with the scriptures in nature.
  
  
• Ask each young woman to choose a scripture card and not discuss it with anyone else.
  
  
• She should find a quiet place close by where she can be alone and reflect on the scripture she has chosen.
  
  
• After ten or fifteen minutes, call the young women together and have them sit in a circle.
  
  
• Sing "I Feel my Savior's Love".
  
  
• Give each young woman a sheet of "Young Women Camp" Scripture Stickers and a yellow color pencil to highlight the scripture.
  
  
• Ask each young woman to tell which scripture reference she had and share her thoughts or insights about it.
  
  
• Have everyone find it in their own scriptures and put a sticker on that page.
  
  

Conclusion

• Have a young women leader that the girls have a great connection with present this conclusion.
  
  
• Read this story "Draw a Circle" to yourself before camp to help you decide on the things you would like to present to your young women. Of course you are never really prepared for something like this until the spirit hits you, and that is usually during the moment.
  
  
• This is a conclusion to the activity. We want to help the young women realize that a testimony is within their reach and with them helping each other through life it can happen. It is always easier to do it together than alone.
  
  Visit for a minute with them about how they have just shared their inner feelings about their scripture with each other. They are sisters in the Gospel and should strive to help each other always.
  
  Explain to them that the sun on the scripture sticker has two meanings. To help them remember this beautiful "Sunrise" morning and the wonderful feelings that you have felt about our Savior, The "Son" of God.
  
  
• Have everyone stand in a circle with arms around each other and sing "I Am A Child of God".
