- Theme Song:
"The Light Within", or "In Quiet Grove"
The Light Within Book, by Janice Kapp Perry, Page #2 , or Page #25
- Stake Activity:
Activity #1:
Read the Book of Mormon in one night.
Give each ward a "story" to read in the Book of Mormon. Depending on how many wards you have in your stake you could give each ward a couple of stories to do.
Have them read their assigned "Book of Mormon Story" and draw a picture about what they read. Then in chronological order have them share what they read and post their picture on the cabin wall (or hold it up for everyone to see). If you have a cabin, leave the pictures of for the remaining part of camp. By the time you are done, you will have read the whole Book of Mormon.
Conclusion:
**Testimony and closing prayer.
- Activity #2:
Activity:
Read this article "Let the Fire of the Covenant Burn in your Hearts" by Sister Susan W. Tanner, the General YW President. It will give you some great ideas to use as a closing talk for this activity.
"Camp Solo Time" Activity with "Dear to my Heart" Scripture Stickers. This is a very powerful activity that is good do to towards the end of camp. Maybe in the earlier hours of the day before the testimony evening that night.
Conclusion:
Bring the girls all back together and have a short talk to tie it all together.
- Activity #3:
The girl's need to learn to stand together. When they are taught something and they feel it in their hearts, they need to stick together and remember that good feeling they had in their heart. When they feel this at camp and then go home back into the real world they have to stick together. This activity will help pull them together and do just that.
Activity:
Sit in a circle and make "Friendship Fudge". (It is excellent by the way. I was amazed how easy, creamy and yummy it was!)
Recipe for Friendship Fudge:
4 Cups Powdered Sugar
3 oz. softened cream cheese
1/2 Cup Soft Butter
1/2 Cup Cocoa
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 Chopped Nuts (optional)
You will also need 2 gallon zip-lock baggies, a paper plate and knive or spoons.
**Put all of the ingredients in a zip-lock bag. Then put the second bag over the first. Pass the bag around having all of the girls take turns squeezing and kneading the fudge together. Talk about how it takes all of you to make the fudge. Discuss how their friendship and working together will help them "stick together" in rough (such as the squeezing and kneading) times. Give a short talk on these ideas.
**Then tell them the "Up-to-date version of The Good Samaritan" in the "Standing with God" article by Sister Sharon Larsen. Read down to about the middle of the first page of the talk. The whole talk is wonderful and would be worth reading for further ideas.
**I told my girls this Pink Penguins" story last year and gave them all a pair of Pink shoelaces. I had them put them in their shoes to remember that whenever they saw them to have the courage to stand together for what is right. They will remember the feeling you have instilled in them this night at camp.
There you have some ideas to "Light the Fire of Testimony" within the hearts of your Young Women. When you invite the spirit into your teaching -- you can't go wrong.
